The project is located in the Hocalıhan neighborhood of the Selçuklu Municipality in Konya province. The Işıklar Culture and Sports Facility has a floor area of 463.16 m² and a total construction area of 2,631.54 m². All planning and tender preparation work related to the structure has been carried out by our team. The building consists of two basement floors, a ground floor, and two upper floors. The facility's purpose is to encourage local residents to participate in sports and to provide accessible cultural and sports opportunities to local users through regular cultural and sports events. In this context, the Selçuklu Municipality aims to make the facility attractive by offering regular sports classes and various activities.
During the design process, the specific requirements of the client were decisive in shaping the architectural decisions. One of the key requirements was to ensure access to the facility’s various functional areas for defined user groups, while preventing these groups from encountering each other in certain zones. Accordingly, sports areas for male and female users were planned on separate floors within the standard storeys of the building. Access to these areas is provided via completely independent circulation systems. These spaces are designed to accommodate a variety of activities such as group exercises, fitness, and yoga.
The second basement level houses technical rooms, while the first basement level contains the swimming pool and its associated auxiliary spaces.
On the ground floor, a “club” area has been designed to encourage social interaction and serve as a meeting point for local residents. This space is referred to as the “Seniors’ Lounge.” The aim is to provide not only the users engaged in sports activities within the facility but also local residents with an opportunity to spend quality time together and participate in communal activities.
The client considers it one of its missions to promote sports and cultural activities across a broad section of the community, thereby fostering a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally, for the people it serves. The proposed “Işıklar Neighbourhood Centre” is part of the Selçuklu Municipality’s “Mahalle Konağı” project series and is included in the Municipality of Konya-Selçuklu’s investment programme for cultural and sports facilities. Construction is planned to commence in the near future.
