Landscape Architecture

We are convinced that architecture extends far beyond the boundaries of a building and exists in a responsible dialogue between the natural and built environment. At the core of this understanding lies the landscape, which we regard as an essential component of holistic design.

Through our landscape architecture, we contribute to expressing cultural, ecological, and social values in outdoor spaces in a clear and contemporary manner, while redefining the relationship with nature. In this way, connections to the city, its people, and the environment become visible, grow stronger, and endure over time.

Our Design Philosophy
“We foster creative balance.“
Every project begins with a careful exploration and analysis of the site’s natural potential. Topography, climate, vegetation, and the natural flows of the space form the starting point of our design process. Our design evolves at the intersection of the natural and built environment, in a creative dialogue supported by interdisciplinary collaboration and experienced partners.

Our goal is to integrate these natural characteristics sensitively and harmoniously into the designed environment, creating vibrant spaces that connect with their surroundings. In this way, we create places that gain value over time, enhance the uniqueness of the site, and establish a meaningful relationship with their users.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Services
We view landscape architecture not only as an independent discipline but also as a natural extension and continuation of our architectural practice. Furthermore, we are convinced that it is an indispensable component of interdisciplinary design visions.

Depending on the scale and character of a project, we integrate landscape design into our spatial concepts and, where necessary, develop holistic solutions in collaboration with our professional partners.

Below, we answer the most frequently asked questions regarding our implementation practices and design approaches:
Which project areas does Alanguva Architekten cover?
At Alanguva Architekten, we are not only responsible for the design and planning of buildings, but, when required, we also undertake smaller and medium-scale outdoor designs as part of our discipline:

  • Smaller outdoor designs: gardens, terraces, courtyards, entrance areas, as well as simple play or park areas.
  • Open space design: landscaping, pathways, seating areas, and lighting plans.

  • Individual open space concepts: design solutions for small-scale projects or private properties.

For large-scale outdoor projects with complex functions or specific legal requirements, we collaborate with landscape architects to develop solutions that are both aesthetically compelling and sustainable.

What does the collaboration process with Alanguva Architekten look like?
Our collaboration begins with an in-depth analysis and briefing phase, in which we assess your requirements, the site conditions, and the project goals. Based on this foundation, we develop initial concept designs, which are reviewed and refined together with you.

This is followed by the creation of a detailed design plan that integrates both aesthetic and functional aspects. Throughout the process, we work in close coordination with other professionals such as landscape architects, gardeners, and contractors. We ensure a consistent flow of information and act as your central point of contact from concept to completion.

If desired, we also accompany the construction phase on site, overseeing the execution to ensure it aligns with the design and supporting communication between all parties involved. This guarantees a smooth process and a coherent result tailored to your specific needs and the character of the place.
At what stage should an architect be brought in for garden or landscape design?

The best time to involve an architect for your outdoor space is early in the planning process ideally in parallel with the building design. This allows us to harmonize indoor and outdoor areas right from the start. It also helps to avoid later adjustments and the additional costs that often come with them. Especially in new builds or major redesigns, early involvement is key.

Can I also get just a consultation without a full design or planning service?
Absolutely. Many clients prefer to start with an initial consultation or a concept idea before committing to a full planning process. This consultation can be tailored entirely to your individual needs. You are welcome to contact us at any time using our contact form. In a non-binding initial meeting, we’ll take the time to discuss your ideas and explore what’s possible, at your pace and with no obligation.
How long does garden planning take, and when can construction begin?
The duration of garden planning depends on the scope of the project. On average, you should allow about 3 to 6 months from the initial idea to the start of construction. If no building permit is required (e.g., for smaller measures), construction can begin immediately after a building start notification. If a permit is necessary, construction may only start after the permit is granted.

Please feel free to contact us to ensure a smooth and efficient process, allowing us to optimally coordinate the planning and avoid potential delays.
How much involvement is possible? Can I contribute my own ideas?
Certainly! Close collaboration with you is the foundation for a successful outcome. We are happy to consider your ideas at any time and provide expert guidance throughout the planning and implementation process.
Do I need a building permit for the garden?
It depends on the specific project and local building regulations. Smaller measures like planting or simple paths usually do not require a permit, while larger structural changes such as walls, carports, or pools often need approval. We are happy to assist you with clarifying the requirements and submitting the application.
