Architectural Photography

Architectural photography is a specialized field that conveys a building’s design decisions, spatial composition, and material language from appropriate perspectives. Photographic work creates a powerful visual language that reveals a building’s function, meaning, and character. It documents both the aesthetic and functional aspects of a project, making the architect’s intent and the building’s relationship to its context tangible. While technical drawings support understanding, architectural photography transforms all elements, from the building envelope to details and light-shadow effects, into a compelling visual narrative through composition.

Architecture Reflected
Visual Representation
For Alanguva Architekten, architectural photography is a natural extension of our practice. With a trained eye for proportion, volume, light, and spatial relationships, we create images that reveal the aesthetic value of a building and deepen the architectural experience.

Before shooting, we analyze the site, lighting conditions, spatial organization, functions, and architectural identity to determine the optimal moment and perspective. During the shoot, we approach the building holistically, considering exterior and interior, details, and light atmospheres, to convey its identity clearly and impressively. In this way, architectural structures and atmospheres are translated into a photographic visual language that powerfully communicates the architect’s intent and the building’s relationship to its context.

Our Work and
Technical Scope
The technical scope of our work includes:
  • Exterior photography: façade design, volumetric relationships, urban context
  • Interior photography: spatial organization, materiality, lighting effects
  • Drone photography: urban context, topographical integration, overall view
  • Detail-focused photography: material joints, constructive solutions
  • Day and night photography: light characteristics and atmospheric analysis
Each shoot is carefully planned to enhance the expressive power of the architectural project and to make the conceptual design process visible. In this way, architectural photography becomes not only a visual archive but also a powerful tool for project presentations, competition entries, and publications.
What is the difference between architectural photography and standard photography?
Architectural photography aims to convey a building’s design language, spatial relationships, and material character with accurate perspectives. This gives the project strong representation in presentations, publications, or portfolios. Unlike standard photography, architectural photography focuses on project-specific composition, light analysis, and technical detailing.
For which types of projects can photography services be commissioned?
Our services cover all architectural typologies, from residential, office, and commercial buildings to hotels, public buildings, and cultural facilities. Additionally, we cover interior designs, renovation projects, public space layouts, landscape designs, and urban-scale interventions.
How does the photography process work?
In a preliminary meeting, the architectural characteristics of the project and the objectives of the shoot are defined. A site visit follows to determine the optimal timing and lighting conditions; styling recommendations may also be provided if necessary. After the shoot, images are edited and delivered in high-resolution formats.
In which formats are the photos delivered?
Images are generally delivered as high-resolution JPEG files and, if necessary, in TIFF format. Optimized versions for print, publication, or digital use are also provided.
How long does a photoshoot take?
The duration depends on the project size and photographic requirements. An average project is delivered digitally within 7–14 days after retouching. Drone shots or detail-focused work that may require external professional support could take additional time.
Where can the photos be used, and who holds the usage rights?
Photos can be used for portfolios, websites, social media, competition entries, printed publications, and investor presentations. Usage rights are granted to the client. Additional licensing may be arranged for commercial use or third-party use.

We are happy to provide detailed information on copyrights and usage permissions on a project-by-project basis.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on the duration of the shoot, project location, required equipment, and delivery formats. For a detailed offer, providing the project information is sufficient.

*We recommend planning the shoot at least 2–3 weeks in advance.
